Amid rising Covid 19 cases, students and parents are concerned regarding the board exams whether it will be postponed or cancelled or held online.
Board Exams are just (just in case definition) three weeks away and all set to start from 4th May according to the given schedule. But, due to increasing corona cases, several class 10, 12 CBSE students have signed petitions requesting the Central government to either cancel the Board Exams 2021 or conduct them in online mode. Many hashtags like #CancelBoardExams2021 and #CancelBoards2021 have been trending on Twitter. However, the CBSE has not yet made any official announcement regarding the postponement or cancellation of class 10 class 12 board exams.
Moreover, on April 8, CBSE and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), issued a joint statement and assured that all necessary precautions will be taken for the safety of students during the exam. A CBSE official made the following statement – “The number of exam centres has been increased by 40-50 per cent to ensure social distancing. The staff at exam centres are being sanitized to ensure all guidelines are followed”.
Also in the latest announcement Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examination, CBSE, stated all the measures taken by the CBSE board in order to ensure the safety of students as well as successful conduction of board examinations. “Special emphasis has been given to students’ safety, thus the board has increased the no of examination centres from 5000 to 7000 and strict covid protocols will be maintained throughout the centers,” he said.
